This is such a lovely, clean and child friendly office. Very professional and welcoming.
Five stars is not enough for Poppy Kids. My son has a fear of dentistry and struggles so much in big part due to having sensory sensitivities. Other pediatrics couldn’t get x rays and said our only option was to sedate him. Poppy Kids were so patient and thorough with him. They were able to get the needed x rays. They continue to do their best and help him through each appointment but never push past his limits. They truly want this to be a positive experience. Everyone is so kind and nurturing. I highly recommend Poppy Kids!
Dr. Aduna and her team are amazing! Everyone on the team is warm and professional. Dr. Aduna has a wonderful bedside manner with both children and parents. We loved our first visit to Poppy’s! They are so welcoming and informative. Our daughter had so much fun with all the books and stuffies they have in the exam room. They were very patient with her during the exam, which can be hard for a 19 month old. They prepared us well for what she would do (crying, which she did) and that it’s very normal. We can’t wait to come back!

I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Andrea and the team at Poppy Kids Pediatric Dentistry. The attention to detail from beginning to end has felt thoughtful, caring, thorough and professional. Whether scheduling an appointment, being in the chair, talking about care plans, dealing with insurance… I and my kids always have felt important, uniquely seen, and professionally cared for — all at once, which I find unique in healthcare and dentistry. I have three kids, and Dr. Andrea approaches each of them uniquely and takes time to understand them holistically. She is up to date on best practices, which, combined with her hands-on experience with kids over the years, really makes you confident you’re getting the best possible care. I’ve been to other pediatric dentists in Marin and San Francisco, and this is the only one I completely trust AND my kids are excited for!! Definitely recommend.

Great first dentist trip for the kiddos! The whole team was warm and friendly. Dr. Andrea never made us feel rushed and was great showing the kids her dentist outfit and all the tools. Why should your child see a board-certified pediatric dentist?

When is a good time for a child's first dental visit, and what should we expect?
The AAPD recommends an initial oral evaluation by Age 1, or within 6 months of the first tooth. Your child's first visit includes a facility tour, a gentle exam with Dr. Andrea, and time to talk through brushing, flossing, and diet. For children under three, that first appointment is complimentary.
How do Petaluma families make a 20-minute drive work for a nervous first-timer?
Most book a morning slot and treat it as a half day. The visit itself is unhurried: a tour of the office first so nothing is a surprise, movies on the ceiling, comfort items, and a parent right there in the room while Dr. Andrea does a gentle exam. Nothing is forced on a first visit. Then it is 20 minutes back up US-101 to Petaluma, and plenty of families stop at the outlets or downtown on the way home as the reward.
My teen at Casa Grande plays sports. What if a tooth gets knocked out on the field?
Act on the field, not in the car. Pick the tooth up by the crown, never the root, rinse it gently in milk if it is dirty, and put it back in the socket if your teen can hold it there with a bite of clean gauze. If not, keep it in cold milk. A permanent tooth replanted within about 30 minutes has the best chance, and the drive from Casa Grande or Petaluma High is about 20 of those, so call (415) 408-5775 as soon as you are on US-101 South and we will be ready for you.
When should my Petaluma kindergartner get sealants, and can it be done in one trip?
Sealants go on the chewing surfaces of the permanent molars as they come in, usually around age 6 for the first molars and around 12 for the second set. It is quick and painless, with no numbing, and we normally do it at the same visit as a cleaning, so one drive down from Petaluma covers both. Kids from McKinley Elementary and Kenilworth Junior High are right in that window.
We are coming from Petaluma. Are you open on weekends or Fridays?
No. We see patients Monday through Thursday, 8:30 to 5:00, and are closed Fridays and weekends. For Petaluma families that usually means an early-morning slot before school or a mid-afternoon one after, both an easy 20 minutes down US-101 to exit 459. Routine checkups are every three to six months depending on your child, so it works out to roughly two trips a year per child.
